Our program equips students with the problem-solving skills and confidence needed to excel in this international competition. Through engaging lessons, students strengthen number sense, logical reasoning, geometry, and pattern recognition while practicing real Math Kangaroo-style questions and strategies. Each class includes guided examples, timed challenges, and take-home practice to reinforce learning. As students progress, we introduce early algebraic thinking - such as variables, simple equations, and balancing expressions to help them tackle multi-step problems with clarity. This programs builds strong foundational skills, boots analytical thinking, and prepares students to approach Math Kangaroo questions with confidence and enthusiasm.

Last year we told a tale as old as time, but now it’s time to follow the yellow brick road… to center stage! Join this year’s theater production of the Wizard of Oz, where you’ll explore drama, music, movement, and all the wonders Oz has to offer. Students will learn to act, sing, and dance, all while having fun.
*Mandatory parent meeting Monday, January 12, at 5:00pm in the Highlands Elementary School’s MPR*
Open to grades 1 – 5 only
Rehearsals are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, January 12 – April 24, from 2:40 - 4:30pm
*Wednesday practice for main characters is 12:20pm – 2:30pm
No rehearsal on January 19, February 16, March 30, March 31, April 1, April 2, April 6.

Junior Alchemists is designed to not only pique an interest in scientific inquiry, but to introduce students to a deeper understanding of the world around them Students engage in hands-on activities such as creating lava lamps, engineering a fully functional race car and Ferris Wheel, levitating a ping pong ball, and constructing a Newton's Cradle. Through experiments like this, they learn scientific concepts like physical and chemical reactions, potential and kinetic energy, as well as acids and bases. Each experiment offers a dynamic opportunity for students to explore and comprehend fundamental principles in a interactive and engaging learning environment. Students have a blast and take home their experiments after each class!

This after-school program immerses kindergarten through fifth-grade students in the vibrant world of Spanish language and culture. Students build foundational language skills through interactive games, captivating storytelling, and hands-on projects such as crafting colorful masks and making simple instruments inspired by Spanish-speaking countries. Emphasis is placed on developing a positive relationship with the language: from basic greetings and vocabulary to fun activities that explore the diverse traditions, music, and geography of the Spanish-speaking world.
