LEGO Robotics Boot Camp

LEGO Robotics Boot Camp I (7/10-7/14): In this introductory week, we will introduce the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 system. We will learn the basics of mechanical and software design. We will learn how to use loops, conditional statements to control our robots to avoid obstacles, pick up and carry objects, and play sounds.

LEGO Robotics Boot Camp II (7/17-7/21): This week, we will introduce a FIRST LEGO League challenge from a previous season. We will start programming our Mindstorms robots on a regulation competition table using an actual competition mat from that season. Campers do not need to have attended previous weeks to participate in this week.

LEGO Robotics Boot Camp III (7/24-7/28): This week, we will start chaining our Mindstorms programs together to complete multiple challenges in sequence without interruption. Campers do not need to have attended previous weeks to participate in this week.

LEGO Robotics Boot Camp IV (7/31-8/4): This week, we will begin "head-to-head" competitions to see which team can rack-up the highest score. Each session will consist of a timed trial. Campers do not need to have attended previous weeks to participate in this week.

LEGO Robotics Boot Camp V (8/7-8/11): In this last week, we will run our final competitions and discuss how to join or form a FIRST LEGO League team for the 2023-2024 season. Campers do not need to have attended previous weeks to participate in this week.

• AI Adventures
  Our course is designed to introduce your child to the world of Artificial Intelligence and inspire their creativity and curiosity. In this class, your child will have the opportunity to work with some of the latest and most cutting edge AI technologies, such as ChatGPT, Stable Diffusion, DALL-E, and Novel.ai. They'll learn how to use these tools to create their own animations, short stories, and even films! Through hands-on activities and projects, your child will learn how AI works and how it can be used to solve problems and give them new outlets for them to express their creativity . They'll get to practice their critical thinking and collaboration skills as they work on projects with their classmates. • Artful-Noons
  This course focuses on building fundamental Art skills. Kids enjoy an hour of creativity exploring and applying their imagination into various types of art projects, uncovering true talent that has yet to be seen. It is an amazing and fun way for children to make choices and solve problems. Projects includes painting, crafting, pastel art, and sculpting. These projects will help kids develop their own concepts, kids will be introduced to various art materials while learning different techniques such as shading, blending, glazing, water consistency and varying size or color. • Checkmate Chess
  OutOfTheBoxKids Chess class is a great way to sprinkle a little intellectual stimulation into your After-school activities! This class covers a complete introduction to the chess pieces. The focus is to teach kids the different moves and values, to understanding and strategizing on good trades versus bad trades, to ending the game with a checkmate!   Chef It Up takes kids on a culinary adventure. Each week we pick a country of the day then prepare fun foods and drinks from that region! Some of the countries we visit are: Italy with Pasta making, Japan with Sushi Making; Mexico with Salsa or Quesadillas or the good ole’ USA with Apple Pies! If there is no access to an oven… no problem as recipes can be made as a “no bake” option where food gets prepared and sent home with baking instructions to have a parent cook!   This is an introductory piano class for students who have little or no experience playing the piano. Beginners will become familiar with the proper body posture required to play the piano.
